The Mouse-tailed dormouse is the rarest dormouse species of Europe, maybe the rarest mammal species of Europe. It was almost considered extinct in Europe until a Bulgarian biologist caught it (alive) in the most southeastern corner of Europe, where Bulgaria, Greece, and Turkey meet.
